Introduction to Meditation Workshop

Next Workshop will be held on Tuesday, July 15th 6:30 PM-8:30 PM

Are you interested in beginning a meditation practice but not sure how to start? This workshop will guide you through the very basics you need to know to get started on a regular meditation practice from the Hatha Yoga tradition.  The workshop will cover:

-Why meditate? Learn what recent research has to say about the benefits of a regular meditation practice.

-What is meditation? Learn what meditation is and is not. We will discuss the different styles of meditation (breathwork, mindfulness, guided imagery, mantra, chanting, using mala beads, etc.). You will learn which types of meditation may work best for you.

-Guided practice of mindful breathing meditations or pranayama, seated meditation from the Hatha Yoga tradition, gentle asana or movement between meditations and a guided Yoga Nidra.

-Learn the basics: creating a meditation space at home; choosing a comfortable seated position and the placement of hands or Mudras; and the recommended length and frequency of practice.

- Workshop price includes a meditation CD to help you begin a regular practice at home.

Cost is $80 for the two hour workshop. Pre-registration is required as space is limited.

  1. Hey,when you meditate, when you create divine or Sattvic excellence,a spiritual road is developed in the psyche. In the event that you are not customary in meditation,if your dispassion melts away,in the event that you get to be remiss and non-vigilant,the spiritual road will be washed away by the surge of polluted contemplations and underhandedness Vasanas.Subsequently be consistent in your meditation. Normality in meditation is of principal importance.Good day.:)

  2. If we really consider how we learn in the modern world, we realize that despite all our emphasis on education, our education is one- sided and shallow. We may learn to memorize equations and facts, but we do not really learn to understand and develop our own inner life. Our minds remain scattered and our emotions persist as negative, conflicting forces. We are able to use only a small portion of our mental abilities, because we are preoccupied with confusion, fear, and inner conflict. Meditation helps us to overcome these limitations; it helps us to become aware of the subtler and more positive powers within. In gaining this awareness, we become creative and dynamic. Abilities such as intuition, which many consider unusual or rare, are actually within the potential of all human beings who meditate. Such gifts are available to those who make contact with the deeper aspects within themselves.

  3. I participated in the workshop and really learned a lot from that workshop as it told me different tips to be relaxed and get rid of my pains but I usually go to osteopath to be pain free.
